Role Overview

The Security Infrastructure Engineer role is focused on the design, deployment, and upkeep of robust network and system infrastructure ensuring secure support for QAT's automation and smart technology offerings. Based onsite in Qatar, responsibilities include configuring security platforms and tools, ongoing monitoring for vulnerabilities or security incidents, and guaranteeing adherence to relevant security policies and standards.

The position requires close collaboration with project teams and stakeholders to integrate security measures into both new and existing infrastructure, diagnosing and resolving infrastructure problems, as well as optimizing system performance and resilience. Routine duties encompass documenting system architectures and configurations, participating in security audits and reviews, and driving improvements in security protocols and procedures.

Qualifications and Expertise

  • Proven expertise in network and infrastructure security technologies such as firewalls, VPNs, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and network segmentation.
  • Hands-on experience in securing system administration tasks including server hardening for Linux and Windows platforms, identity and access management, and patch deployment.
  • Familiarity with security monitoring tools and incident response procedures, including use of SIEM systems, log review, threat identification, and incident management.
  • Strong background in security architecture principles, encompassing secure design methodologies, risk evaluation, and adherence to security best practices.
  • Knowledge of recognized security standards and frameworks such as ISO 27001, NIST guidelines, and relevant sector-specific regulations.
  • Excellent analytical skills, with a focus on detailed problem solving and thorough documentation.
  • Demonstrated capability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and communicate complex technical information clearly to non-technical audiences.
  • A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, Engineering or a closely related discipline is required; industry certifications like CISSP, CISM, CCNP Security, or CEH represent added value.
  • Experience working in security infrastructure roles in automation, smart technology environments, or significant enterprise-level organizations within the Middle East region will be considered advantageous.
