Job description

Job Overview

The Safety Officer plays a critical role in fostering a secure and healthy workplace by developing, executing, and upholding safety policies that comply with regulatory standards. Duties include carrying out inspections, assessing risks, investigating workplace incidents, and delivering safety training to reduce hazards.

Core Responsibilities

  • Formulate, apply, and sustain Workplace Safety & Health (WSH) policies aligned with Singapore's Ministry of Manpower standards.
  • Perform routine site inspections and hazard evaluations, advising on corrective actions.
  • Ensure adherence to the WSH Act, subsidiary regulations, and corporate safety protocols.
  • Investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses; produce reports and propose preventive strategies.
  • Conduct safety inductions, training sessions, and toolbox talks for both staff and contractors.
  • Oversee proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and adherence to safety procedures.
  • Coordinate with government agencies and external auditors regarding safety compliance.
  • Keep accurate safety documentation, including records, reports, and certifications.
  • Advocate and nurture a proactive safety culture throughout the company.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Diploma or Degree in Workplace Safety & Health, Engineering, or related discipline.
  • Registered Workplace Safety & Health Officer (WSHO) recognized by Singapore's Ministry of Manpower for relevant roles.
  • 2 to 5 years of pertinent experience, preferably within construction, logistics, or manufacturing sectors.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Singapore's WSH legislations and risk management methodologies.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal capabilities.
  • Capable of independently managing duties at work sites.
  • Willingness to work a 5.5-day workweek.

Preferred Credentials

  • Certifications such as WSH Officer, WSH Coordinator, or Risk Management.
  • Familiarity with ISO 45001 Occupational Health & Safety Management Systems.
  • Valid First Aid and Fire Safety certifications.
