Job Overview
We are currently seeking a seasoned Safety Engineer specializing in Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) to join our supervision consultancy team for a major infrastructure project approximately 100 km north of Jeddah. The role involves ensuring all construction activities meet health, safety, and environmental standards and comply fully with project guidelines.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and enforce HSE regulations at the construction site.
- Ensure contractors adhere strictly to the project's safety plans, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Carry out continual safety inspections and audits to spot hazards and uphold safe work methods.
- Evaluate contractor submissions such as safety plans, risk assessments, method statements, and procedures.
- Oversee safety compliance across multiple construction aspects, including road networks, potable water systems, firefighting, gas distribution, storm water drainage, sewage, power distribution (medium and low voltage), street lighting, telecom, irrigation, and landscaping.
- Investigate incidents, accidents, and near-misses, ensuring corrective and preventive measures are applied.
- Conduct toolbox discussions, safety trainings, and awareness sessions for site staff.
- Verify the correct usage of personal protective equipment and adherence to safe working methods.
- Prepare and maintain all required HSE documentation, inspection records, and reports for the project.
- Collaborate with the supervision team and contractors to enhance ongoing safety performance.
Candidate Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a relevant field.
- At least 10 years of experience focused on health and safety within infrastructure construction projects.
- Proven expertise specifically in road and multi-utility infrastructure safety management.
- Experience working within engineering consultancy firms in supervisory roles.
- Comprehensive understanding of international HSE standards and construction safety best practices.
- Strong communication abilities combined with excellent inspection and reporting skills.
