Research Data Analyst

Job Summary

The Gaw Lab at the University of California, San Francisco invites applications for a part-time Research Data Analyst to join a collaborative team focused on maternal-fetal immune responses. This role predominantly involves assisting with data analysis and visualization, under direct supervision, in a flexible part-time capacity of approximately 10-20 hours per week to meet project deadlines.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform essential statistical and data analyses under supervision and participate in scheduled and impromptu virtual team meetings, providing comprehensive weekly reports.
• Gather research data, preparing it for in-depth analysis.
• Contribute to study design recommendations and develop survey instruments.
• Assist in testing research tools and validating data sources.
• Support internal report preparation and data analysis efforts.
• Participate in the evaluation and research of data reporting products.
• Expand expertise in managing computerized data storage, documentation, and dissemination.

Qualifications

• Possession of a bachelor's degree in computational sciences, statistics, data science, bioinformatics, or related field, or alternatively, a minimum of three months equivalent experience or training.
• Progressive understanding of research functions and the capability to perform research analysis tasks.
• Developing skills in statistical analysis, systems programming, and database design relevant to research analysis duties.
• Excellent time management skills with the ability to complete assigned project components by deadlines.
• Strong communication and consultation capabilities.
• Experience with R and/or Python programming languages.
• Flexible scheduling and ability to meet tight deadlines, including short-notice tasks (less than two days).
• Familiarity with analysis of “-omics” data.
• Capacity to collaborate effectively within a team environment and utilize communication platforms such as Slack.

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with basic statistical methods applied in clinical research and computational biology.
• Previous experience using Microsoft Excel and REDCap data management tools.
