Job description
Position Overview
The Department of Industrial Engineering within the College of Engineering at the American University of Sharjah (AUS) invites applications for faculty roles at the assistant, associate, or full professor levels. Appointments begin in the Fall 2027 semester. Two types of contracts are available: a one-year renewable visiting contract and a three-year renewable regular contract.
Qualifications and Expectations
Candidates must hold a PhD in Industrial Engineering and demonstrate a strong and substantial teaching record. Candidates should display excellence in both pedagogy and research. Experience with the American model of higher education is considered highly advantageous. Successful applicants for regular faculty positions are expected to develop and maintain vibrant research programs with both internal and external funding support.

Department and Institutional Information
The Industrial Engineering Department is among the fastest expanding at AUS, comprising roughly 400 undergraduate and 120 graduate students, supported by 13 full-time faculty members and one laboratory instructor. The campus hosts a globally diverse community with around 90 nationalities. Academic offerings include a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering, a Master of Science in Engineering Systems Management, and a Doctor of Philosophy in Engineering Systems Management.
AUS is situated in the Emirate of Sharjah, approximately 15 km from Dubai. The university operates as an independent, not-for-profit, coeducational institution serving over 5,700 students. It holds accreditation from the Commission for Academic Accreditation of the UAE Ministry of Education's Higher Education Affairs Division and the Middle States Commission on Higher Education in the United States. Furthermore, the Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering program is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET.
