Job description
Overview
We are looking for a meticulous and committed Quantity Surveyor to join our team supporting metro power supply system projects in Singapore. This role involves managing contract administration, cost monitoring, procurement assistance, progress claim submissions, variation handling, and commercial coordination to effectively oversee project expenses, contractual issues, and payment workflows. You will have the opportunity to engage with large-scale rail infrastructure initiatives collaborating with diverse international engineering, commercial, and project personnel.
Key Duties
- Assist in managing project contracts, subcontracts, and various commercial documents, including reviewing contract specifications, scope, and tender papers.
- Support the creation and oversight of subcontract agreements and purchase orders, and coordinate commercial correspondence.
- Identify contractual risks and obligations, working closely with multidisciplinary teams in procurement, finance, and project management to resolve commercial matters.
- Monitor ongoing project budgets, expenditures, and commitments while preparing cost forecasts and detailed budget reports.
- Evaluate supplier quotations, support cost control initiatives, and document all financial aspects such as claims, variations, and commercial records.
- Prepare and submit monthly progress claims to clients or main contractors, validate subcontractor and supplier claims, and assist in payment certification and follow-ups.
- Assist with preparing, submitting, and negotiating variation orders, quantify additional work, maintain detailed records of site changes, and coordinate timely submission of claims and related commercial documentation.
- Support tendering and procurement tasks including quantity take-offs, cost estimation, preparation of bills of quantities, tender comparison, and supplier evaluations, ensuring all commercial submissions are accurate and complete.
Candidate Requirements
- Degree or Diploma in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- At least 3 to 5 years' experience in quantity surveying, contract administration, or commercial management within construction, infrastructure, railway, LTA, or M&E projects.
- Experience with metro, railway, electrical power supply, or sizable infrastructure projects is advantageous.
- Strong grasp of contract documentation, progress claims, variation orders, budgeting, and procurement procedures.
- Competent in reading and interpreting drawings, specifications, contract documents, and bills of quantities.
- Knowledgeable in quantity take-off, cost estimation, and related commercial paperwork.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder coordination skills.
- Ability to work independently, take responsibility, pay attention to detail, and manage fast-paced project demands.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; familiarity with AutoCAD, Cubicost, Glodon, CostX, or comparable QS software is preferred but not obligatory.
- Open to Singaporean, Work Permit or Employment Pass holders.
