Purchase Engineer

Role Overview

We are looking for a proactive Purchase Engineer to oversee procurement functions in fabrication and industrial machine manufacturing at our Vadodara location. This permanent, full-time position involves sourcing materials, negotiating with vendors, controlling procurement costs, and ensuring timely supply to support production needs.

Key Responsibilities

• Procure raw materials, mechanical parts, fabrication supplies, tools, and related items essential for production.
• Identify, assess, and develop trustworthy suppliers and vendors.
• Conduct market analysis to discover new sourcing avenues and optimize procurement processes.
• Negotiate pricing, payment terms, and overall commercial agreements to balance cost savings with quality and delivery obligations.
• Prepare cost analyses, purchase comparisons, and manage procurement budgets.
• Evaluate and onboard suppliers considering quality, cost-effectiveness, delivery reliability, and performance.
• Conduct supplier performance evaluations and audits to maintain standards.
• Maintain approved vendor lists and handle supplier documentation and contracts diligently.
• Collaborate with production and inventory teams to ensure materials are available as needed.
• Monitor inventory to avoid shortages and excess stock; assist in inventory planning and control.
• Work with design and production departments to understand material specifications and requirements.
• Coordinate with Quality Assurance to ensure purchased materials meet standards.
• Resolve supply-related challenges by identifying alternatives and contingency plans.
• Ensure procurement complies with company policies and relevant regulations.
• Maintain thorough and accurate procurement records including purchase orders, quotations, and contracts.
• Support internal and external audits through proper documentation management.

Qualifications and Experience

• Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• At least 2 years of experience in procurement management and purchasing specifically within engineering, fabrication, or manufacturing sectors.

Skills Required

• Strong negotiation and vendor relationship management capabilities.
• Familiarity with fabrication materials, industrial machine components, and interpreting engineering drawings.
• Proficiency in ERP systems and procurement software tools.
• Competence in evaluating supplier quotations and making economically sound purchase decisions.
• Excellent analytical thinking, communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills.

Compensation and Employment Details

• Monthly salary between ₹30,000 and ₹40,000 depending on experience and qualifications.
• Permanent, full-time position.
• On-site work requirement in Vadodara, Gujarat.
