Role Summary
The Project Manager will facilitate the implementation and oversight of commercial construction projects and renovations within Zambia's Quick-Service Restaurant sector. Reporting to the Regional Construction Project Manager, this role involves collaborating closely with contractors, architects, landlords, suppliers, and internal teams to ensure projects meet quality and budgetary expectations before transitioning to Operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform regular on-site inspections to assess project status, verify adherence to quality standards, and ensure compliance.
- Manage construction, refurbishment, and maintenance initiatives from initial planning through to completion.
- Develop detailed project scopes, budgets, quotations, and allocate resources for assigned sites.
- Engage with contractors, consultants, landlords, suppliers, and regulatory authorities to guarantee smooth project flow and secure necessary approvals.
- Track contractor performance, timelines, and material consumption to promote cost-efficient project delivery.
- Address technical and operational issues encountered on-site promptly and effectively.
- Keep thorough project records, update progress reports, and communicate with stakeholders using company software and digital tools.
- Ensure all activities comply with company policies, safety guidelines, and proper handling of company assets.
Qualifications and Experience
- A bachelor's degree in Project Management, Building Sciences, Civil or Structural Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or a related discipline is required.
- Membership or active association with a recognized professional institution (e.g., EIZ, ZIQS, PMI) is preferred.
- A minimum of five years experience in construction, retail development, or project management roles.
- Hands-on involvement in Quick-Service Restaurant or commercial retail construction projects is strongly desirable.
- Proficient in Google Workspace, Microsoft Office Suite, and project management software tools.
- Possession of a valid driver's license with readiness to undertake frequent travel across project sites.
