Our Advisory and Programme Delivery (APD) unit provides project, programme, and commercial management services as well as advisory solutions for sectors including built environment, defence, energy, water, environment, transportation, and health care. We handle projects up to £20 billion in scale, offering expertise in programme management, scheduling, cost management, infrastructure finance, consulting, and more.

Role Overview

The Project Controls Manager plays a significant role within our specialist advisory teams, delivering PMO and controls services on a broad array of infrastructure and built environment projects, including globally major programmes. This role involves leveraging analytical skills to evaluate performance, managing project controls processes, facilitating teams, and supporting project delivery excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze and critically assess performance metrics such as earned value and project trends from multiple data sources.
  • Identify critical issues and implement corrective or recovery measures across projects.
  • Effectively manage personnel and coordinate tasks within the team.
  • Implement and maintain robust project controls systems and tools suitable for the relevant industries.
  • Support project managers with change management, consolidating project plans, and PMO functions (preferred).
  • Utilize data visualization tools such as PowerBI to enhance reporting capabilities (preferred).

Candidate Requirements

  • Eligible to obtain required security clearance due to role sensitivity.
  • Experience with large infrastructure projects in sectors such as water, transport, nuclear, and defence.
  • Degree level education or project controls/management certifications like APMG Planning and Controls, EVM, PMQ, or Prince2.
  • Flexible to travel and work across various sectors and clients.
  • Familiarity with risk management and reporting tools including ARM.
  • Proficient in scheduling software such as Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, or similar.
  • Ability to develop and maintain project schedules aligned to project needs.
  • Adapt project methodologies to reduce uncertainty and enhance outcomes.
  • Conduct project reporting, monitoring key performance indicators, and review activities.
  • Coordinate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and function well within client consultancy environments.
  • Strong skills in stakeholder engagement and management.
