Role Overview
Join Scale as a Project Analyst in Santa Monica, CA, where you will contribute significantly to the development of cutting-edge microgrid projects by supporting the Business Development team. Your efforts will help transform potential opportunities into innovative, highly effective, and financially viable projects ready for construction. Additionally, you will play a key role in crafting and enhancing processes and workflows to enable scalable and efficient project development.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze project financials considering factors such as utility savings, revenues from grid services, and financing expenses.
- Enhance microgrid designs integrating solar panels, battery storage, and generators to solve customer challenges and ensure appealing returns.
- Optimize dispatch strategies for Distributed Energy Resources utilizing customer load data, utility pricing, and demand response initiatives.
- Operate and assist in advancing Scale’s proprietary microgrid optimization platform.
- Utilize and contribute to the development of Python and spreadsheet tools used by Scale.
- Work with third-party industry applications like Helioscope; prior experience is welcome but not mandatory.
- Support the Business Development team with proposal preparation, client communications, and presentations.
- Collaborate closely with engineering, finance, and project management teams within the organization.
- Build and sustain cooperative relationships with internal colleagues and external partners.
- Contribute to establishing a department central to the company’s rapid expansion.
Candidate Profile
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, finance, physics, economics, or related technical disciplines.
- One to two years of relevant experience in the energy sector, utilities, or related industries.
- Experience in energy project analysis is advantageous; advanced or specific undergraduate qualifications may offset experience requirements.
- Proficiency in Python and Excel at an intermediate level or higher.
- Ability to work independently in a dynamic, fast-paced setting.
- Strong ownership mindset, driving projects to successful completion.
- Passion for energy topics with eagerness to continuously expand knowledge.
- Comfort in providing constructive feedback to peers and supervisors.
