Programme Leader – Psychology

Position Overview

The Programme Leader in Psychology at Bath Spa University’s Ras Al Khaimah campus holds a critical leadership role responsible for guiding the academic programme’s overall execution. This role includes managing curriculum development, strategic initiatives, student support, and liaising with the UK-based Bath Spa University as well as other stakeholders to sustain excellent academic standards.

Key Duties

• Oversee daily departmental operations, including budget management, resource distribution, and facility oversight.
• Coordinate with academic and administrative personnel to ensure smooth departmental functions and compliance with institutional policies and regulations.
• Drive continuous curriculum development by collaborating with faculty to align offerings with university standards and industry expectations, organizing regular reviews and staying current with educational best practices.
• Support students academically by addressing their concerns, managing progression, course registration, and collaborating with support services to enhance their academic journey.
• Facilitate active communication with the Bath Spa University, UK link tutor, participating in meetings, programme approval processes, and validation events, as well as representing the campus at subject and exam boards.
• Lead faculty recruitment, induction, mentoring, and performance evaluation to promote a culture of academic excellence and professional growth.
• Implement and monitor quality assurance mechanisms, engage in university-wide QA activities, and initiate improvements to teaching, learning, and assessment.
• Foster external partnerships with industry and professional bodies to expand student opportunities such as internships and placements and represent the university at external academic forums.

Educational and Professional Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Psychology from an accredited university with attestation.
• Ph.D. Equivalency Certificate from UAE Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.
• At least five years of UAE higher education teaching experience.
• Proven track record in academic leadership or programme management roles.
• Strong understanding of quality assurance and accreditation processes.
• Evidence of publications in recognized academic journals.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with accreditation and quality assurance frameworks.
• Successful history in curriculum design and programme development.
• Supervision experience in undergraduate and postgraduate research projects.
