About the Role
Serving as a Produce Stocker at Walmart Canada offers a valuable chance to develop skills in a fast-moving retail setting. The primary focus is to provide exceptional customer service aligned with Walmart’s core values by organizing and replenishing the produce section, ensuring fresh product availability, and enhancing shoppers' experiences.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain a clean, tidy, and well-zoned produce department to ensure readiness for customers at all times.
- Regularly check and rotate produce to uphold freshness, removing any expired items promptly.
- Verify that all produce items are accurately priced and properly signed, adhering to prescribed ordering, clearance, markups, markdowns, labeling, and signage protocols.
- Follow strict food safety and cold chain guidelines, including temperature monitoring, correct use of thermometers, safe food handling practices, and compliance with sell-by and expiry dates.
- Stock and downstock merchandise as necessary, apply product protection measures, and arrange merchandising units such as modulars, flex modulars, and shelf caps to maintain a fully stocked department.
- Adhere to all health and safety policies to promote a safe and hygienic work environment.
- Demonstrate scheduling flexibility by working various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, to support business operations and maintain consistent customer service quality.
Challenges in the Role
- Effectively manage high task volumes within a fast-paced environment, including overnight shifts, by planning to maintain energy and focus.
- Handle physically demanding tasks such as standing for long periods, bending, and lifting inventory or equipment weighing up to 20 lbs regularly and occasionally up to 50 lbs.
- Perform repetitive duties like stocking, zoning, and organizing products consistently with attention to detail to meet store standards.
