Job Overview

The role is a permanent position within the Academic department, reporting to the Assistant Head of Primary at an international school in Doha, Qatar. This position involves diverse teaching responsibilities focused on fostering a positive, inclusive, and effective learning environment for primary students.

Teaching and Classroom Responsibilities

• Design and deliver engaging lessons tailored to meet diverse learning needs.
• Incorporate varied instructional methods promoting inquiry, creativity, independence, critical thinking, and teamwork.
• Maintain high standards for student conduct, academic achievement, and personal responsibility.
• Create a safe and supportive classroom atmosphere grounded in respect and positive relationships.
• Effectively use technology to support student learning and digital competence.
• Encourage students to take ownership of their learning through goal setting and reflection.
• Apply restorative and policy-aligned behavior management strategies.

Curriculum Planning and Development

• Collaborate with colleagues to ensure a cohesive and progressive grade-level curriculum.
• Contribute to the ongoing development and enhancement of curriculum materials and teaching units.
• Ensure lesson plans align with international best practices and grade-level standards.
• Integrate opportunities for interdisciplinary learning, real-life applications, and global awareness.
• Support classroom experiences that promote multilingualism and language development.

Student Assessment and Progress Monitoring

• Utilize both formative and summative assessments to track progress and guide instruction.
• Maintain accurate records of academic and pastoral progress.
• Provide timely, constructive feedback to facilitate student growth.
• Use assessment results to tailor instruction and implement support where needed.
• Contribute to compiling reports, student portfolios, and effective communication with parents.

Inclusion and Well-being Support

• Differentiates instruction to cater to varied learner needs including EAL, SEN, and gifted students.
• Collaborate with inclusion departments and pastoral staff to support students academically and emotionally.
• Promote a classroom culture prioritizing well-being, resilience, respect, and accountability.
• Assist student transitions within the school and from primary to secondary education.

Professional Conduct and Development

• Engage actively in team meetings, planning, and professional learning communities.
• Participate in ongoing professional development, coaching, and performance appraisal processes aligned with school priorities.
• Share best practices collaboratively and contribute to continuous school improvement.
• Support whole-school projects, curriculum development, and uphold the school’s mission and values.

Community and Parent Involvement

• Build and maintain positive relationships with parents, communicating regularly about student progress and well-being.

• Support extracurricular and community initiatives, promoting the primary school’s reputation and ethos.

Safeguarding and Safety

• Adhere strictly to safeguarding and child protection policies, maintaining professional boundaries and acting promptly on concerns.
• Complete mandatory annual safeguarding training.
• Ensure student safety during lessons, transitions, supervision duties, and extracurricular activities.
• Comply with all health and safety standards and promote safe facility and equipment use.

Personal and Professional Conduct

• Maintain dignity and mutual respect in all student interactions with appropriate boundaries.
• Act diligently to ensure student welfare and respond promptly to any concerns.
• Demonstrate respect, tolerance, and cultural sensitivity consistent with the local context.
• Uphold school policies including punctuality and confidentiality with sound professional judgment.

Educational and Experience Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Education or relevant field.
• Primary teaching qualification and certification recognized by Qatar Ministry of Education and Higher Education.
• Training or willingness to train in Child Protection and Safeguarding.
• At least three years of successful experience teaching primary school students.
• Experience in international or multicultural school settings is preferred.
