Payroll Specialist

About the Role

Fit Recruiting is looking for a skilled Payroll Specialist to join an established HVAC and plumbing company. This role is crucial for accurate payroll processing, union compliance, service job billing, and managing contract-related paperwork within a dynamic construction setting.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct weekly or bi-weekly payroll processing utilizing Sage 300 / Timberline software.
• Manage union employment documentation, certified payroll submissions, and related remittances connected to union matters.
• Administer billing processes for service tasks, including job costing, progress billing, and accounting entries.
• Maintain and oversee contracts, change orders, and the handling of lien waiver documents.
• Keep detailed employee records including deductions, garnishments, and tax filings up to date.
• Reconcile payroll reports and collaborate with project managers to accurately allocate job costs.
• Provide support for human resources activities such as onboarding and benefits administration as required.
• Ensure adherence to federal, state, and union laws and regulations.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience with Sage 300 or Timberline payroll modules is essential.
• Demonstrated expertise in managing union payroll processing and certified payroll reporting.
• Experience within the construction sector, specifically HVAC or plumbing, is highly desirable.
• Knowledge of billing processes related to service work, contracts, and lien waivers.
• Exceptional attention to detail paired with strong organizational capabilities.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and common office software applications.
