About the Role
Join the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator in Brisbane as a full-time, permanent Payroll Advisor tasked with ensuring the precision of employee data for payroll processing and overseeing the governance of the outsourced payroll provider. Your main duties include managing internal payroll procedures, supporting employees, and delivering essential data for monthly and quarterly reports.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee NHVR’s outsourced payroll functions across three pay cycles every fortnight.
- Verify and establish new employee payroll profiles during pre-boarding and ensure timely offboarding in each payroll cycle.
- Manage routine activities such as leave balance and exception reporting, monitor superannuation and allowance updates, and ensure increments and agreement increases are accurately applied and validated.
- Address payroll-related inquiries from managers on behalf of employees.
- Conduct audits comparing banking processes with the general ledger to authorize payments.
- Review pay runs checking timesheet compliance and accuracy of pay items per NHVR’s conditions.
- Escalate any payroll issues to the appropriate stakeholders promptly.
- Ensure adherence to legislative requirements including PAYG, payroll tax, and superannuation obligations.
- Maintain current payroll records with the external provider and monitor their service against contractual SLAs, acting as the primary contract liaison.
- Perform payroll reconciliations and resolve discrepancies.
- Keep meticulous documentation consistent with legislative standards.
- Provide data for monthly, quarterly, and year-end reporting.
- Collaborate with managers and the external provider to address non-compliant timesheets.
- Support audit processes as needed.
- Experience with the Definitive payroll system will be considered advantageous.
Candidate Profile
- Experience in payroll functions with competency in reviewing pay runs for accuracy.
- Ability to interpret Awards and Enterprise Agreements effectively.
- Familiarity with superannuation concepts and employee termination payments.
