Overview
Join our team at Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center located in Boise as a full-time Operating Room (OR) Assistant during the day shift. Our surgical team employs cutting-edge technology to provide exceptional care, including at our Level II Trauma Center serving critically ill and injured patients.
Role Summary
This position is primarily responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and order within surgical services, preparing surgical case carts with necessary supplies and equipment, and transporting materials and equipment as needed.
Training & Orientation
- Orientation is flexible but recommended at 2-3 days per week until complete.
- Training duration is typically between 6 to 8 weeks covering all service areas.
- New hires will engage with OR Educators early for instruction on equipment, positioning, and proper body mechanics.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare case carts stocked with surgical supplies, sutures, and equipment tailored to surgeon preferences.
- Clean and turn over operating rooms after procedures, including equipment, beds, floors, and overhead lights.
- Transport used case carts to decontamination and subsequently to sterile processing using designated routes.
- Log specimens accurately and deliver them to appropriate areas.
- Transport various items such as supplies, specimens, x-rays, blood products, and patient beds as required.
- Handle transport articles like oxygen tanks, monitors, patient charts, and documents to designated locations.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent mandatory.
- Prior experience in housekeeping, central supply, or surgical transport is preferred.
- Familiarity with surgical instruments and supplies is advantageous.
