Role Overview

We are looking for a permanent Open Cut Examiner to join the Curragh Complex team on a 7 days on, 7 days off roster. This hands-on, field-based position requires collaboration with site leaders and crews to identify hazards, carry out inspections, and promote safe mining practices aligned with statutory regulations.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform statutory safety inspections and compliance audits.
• Oversee adherence to safety procedures, policies, and regulatory requirements.
• Identify, evaluate, and manage operational risks in mining activities.
• Participate in investigations of incidents and accidents.
• Contribute to safety training programs and awareness initiatives.
• Maintain precise documentation and safety records.
• Support ongoing improvements to safety systems and processes.

Candidate Profile

• Holder of a Queensland Open Cut Examiner’s Certificate of Competency.
• Prior experience in open cut coal mining as an Open Cut Examiner.
• Strong understanding of Coal Mining Safety and Health legislation.
• Demonstrates visible safety leadership and practical risk management.
