Overview
We are seeking a knowledgeable Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer with expertise in Mechanical or Electrical disciplines to join a leading manufacturing company's engineering team based in Doncaster. This permanent role requires working a 38-hour week on a rotating three-shift schedule with a competitive salary and comprehensive benefits.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform scheduled preventive and reactive maintenance on production machinery to ensure optimal operation.
- Identify, diagnose, and repair mechanical and electrical faults efficiently.
- Maintain and service conveyor belts, elevators, palletisers, packaging and other production equipment.
- Handle installation, servicing, and modifications of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives aimed at maximizing equipment performance and reliability.
- Collaborate closely with production teams to minimize downtime and improve operational effectiveness.
- Accurately complete maintenance documentation and ensure compliance with health, safety, and quality standards.
Candidate Profile
- Possession of an accredited Engineering Apprenticeship or relevant engineering qualification such as BTEC or ONC.
- Demonstrable experience as a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer, Electrical Maintenance Engineer, or Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer in a manufacturing, FMCG, or fast-paced production environment.
- Strong fault diagnosis and troubleshooting abilities for both mechanical and electrical systems.
- Expertise in executing both planned preventative and urgent reactive maintenance tasks.
- Solid understanding of mechanical and electrical components including pneumatics and hydraulics.
- Self-motivated with excellent problem-solving skills, able to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Desirable but not essential: experience with PLCs, SCADA systems, conveyors, packaging machinery, or automated production lines.
Remuneration and Benefits
- Annual salary of £45,615 including a 15% premium for shift work.
- Standard 38-hour workweek across a rotating three-shift schedule:
- Monday to Thursday shifts: 6am–2pm, 2pm–10pm, 10pm–6am
- Friday shifts: 6am–12pm, 12pm–6pm, 6pm–12am
- 26 days of annual leave plus bank holidays, with an extra day after five years of service.
- Option to purchase or sell up to five days of holiday after completing the first year.
- Employer pension contribution of 7.5%.
