Manufacturing Engineering Manager, Research and Development

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the end-to-end design, development, and optimization of manufacturing processes that support research and development activities.
• Partner with widespread cross-functional teams worldwide to engineer comprehensive solutions.
• Continuously improve and optimize manufacturing workflows, focusing on key operational metrics to ensure high-quality output for global collaborators.
• Oversee the design, commissioning, and validation of manual, semi-automated, and automated manufacturing systems within prototype production settings.
• Provide crucial feedback to design teams to guide product manufacturability and process selection.
• Manage and nurture a team of engineers through strategic development planning and mentorship to enhance capabilities and growth.

Required Qualifications

• Proven experience in developing or refining manufacturing processes within R&D or production contexts.
• Demonstrated ability to provide technical leadership, coaching, and mentoring to engineering personnel via direct or indirect supervision.
• Academic credentials including a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Process, Industrial, Biomedical, Mechatronic Engineering, or a related engineering field.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience leading technical teams in manufacturing or R&D settings.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD software for designing equipment, tooling, fixtures, and assembly aids.
• Familiarity with additive manufacturing techniques such as 3D printing.
• Knowledge of laser technologies used for marking and cutting applications.
• Skill in authoring technical documents including reports, work instructions, assessments, specifications, and validation protocols.
• Understanding of risk assessment methods like PFMEA or equivalent.
• Ability to utilize statistical methods for evaluating process capabilities.
• Knowledge in industrial engineering disciplines like line balancing, lean manufacturing, or Six Sigma methodologies.
• Experience collaborating with external vendors.
• Ability to handle multiple projects effectively with strong prioritization skills.
