Job Overview
- Role: Manufacturing Engineer
- Report to: Senior Manufacturing Engineer
- Work Location: Onsite at Moog Ireland Ltd, Carrigaline, County Cork, Ireland (Ringaskiddy)
- Employment Type: Permanent with a 6-month probation period
Key Responsibilities
- Identify and drive improvements in the production process of high-reliability electronic circuit boards and mechanical system assemblies for Moog motion controllers.
- Lead and support continuous improvement projects to elevate product quality, capability, and reduce costs.
- Specify, justify, and ensure timely installation of new equipment within budget.
- Collaborate closely with in-house and corporate design teams to incorporate Design for Manufacturability (DFM) into products.
- Support new product introductions by creating product costings, assembly processes, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Oversee electronic circuit card assembly processes including SMT, PTH, selective soldering, aqueous cleaning, and conformal coating, ensuring compliance with equipment/process specifications.
- Manage mechanical assembly of Moog motion controllers utilizing automated torque drivers and laser marking systems, ensuring proper operation of equipment and processes.
- Coordinate with production and cross-functional teams to fulfill customer delivery commitments.
- Design all manufacturing and assembly methods to meet quality, throughput, cost, and environmental health and safety standards.
- Employ Lean manufacturing principles to identify and implement process improvements.
- Deliver training on manufacturing processes and equipment as necessary.
- Design and put into practice safe product handling solutions.
- Utilize and enhance internal BMDL and assembly procedures.
- Provide product costing and assembly support to other Moog facilities as needed.
- Review, approve, and manage Engineering Change Orders (ECOs).
Requirements
- A Level 8 degree qualification (equivalent to bachelors or higher)
- Experience in electronics manufacturing in a highly regulated environment
- Strong analytical problem-solving skills with a practical, constructive approach
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team to deliver projects promptly
- Knowledge and application of Lean manufacturing methodologies
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, capable of effective interaction with customers and colleagues at all organizational levels
- Willingness to support a global team and engage with customers or Moog sites worldwide to resolve product and process issues
- Flexibility to adjust work patterns to meet varying demand and project deadlines in a global, project-driven setting
Additional Terms
This is a full-time, onsite position located in Carrigaline, County Cork, with a six-month probation period. The successful candidate will report to the Manufacturing Engineering Supervisor.
