Manager Ground Operations - Qatar Executive

Overview

We are looking for a seasoned Manager Ground Operations to lead and enhance the ground handling services for Qatar Executive within the aviation sector. This role involves managing service delivery, ensuring compliance with regulations, overseeing service providers, and driving efficiency across operations.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement strategies to improve ground handling performance, efficiency, and cost management across the business aviation network.
• Supervise service providers responsible for ground handling, including overseeing load control activities for Qatar Executive.
• Lead contracting efforts, including negotiation, awarding, and management of ground handling contracts and service-level agreements.
• Develop and maintain up-to-date Ground Operations Manual (GOM) and Dangerous Goods (DG) Manual in compliance with applicable regulations.
• Implement and oversee procedures related to Dangerous Goods, ensuring adherence to relevant policies and regulations.
• Coordinate ground operational logistics such as aircraft handling, securing landing and parking permits, and managing slot allocations.
• Conduct risk assessments at new stations to ensure safe and compliant ground handling operations.
• Plan and execute audits on ground handling and de-icing operations, managing follow-up actions and corrective plans.
• Investigate and report ground handling incidents and accidents, coordinating with Legal and Insurance departments as necessary.
• Utilize operational data analysis to drive continuous improvement initiatives focusing on incident trends and performance metrics.
• Maintain productive relationships with internal teams, airport authorities, regulatory bodies, and external service providers.
• Lead and foster team development while promoting a culture prioritizing safety, compliance, and excellence.

Qualifications and Experience

• A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification with a minimum of eight years’ relevant experience.
• Proven management experience within ground handling, airline, or airport operations, especially related to business aviation services.
• Expertise in negotiating and managing ground handling service contracts.
• Familiarity with preparing and updating Ground Operations Manuals and Dangerous Goods Manuals according to regulatory standards.
• Experience conducting audits for ground handling and de-icing and managing remediation activities.
• Competence in performing new station ground handling risk assessments.
• Knowledge of IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations and ICAO standards for air transport safety.
• Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and interpersonal skills.
• Leadership abilities to coach, motivate, and develop teams effectively.
• Possession of Dangerous Goods Category 6 (DG CAT 6) certification is preferred.
