Role Overview
This position involves performing management accounting duties to ensure the company enforces and maintains strong financial controls while delivering dependable, accurate, and timely management information to senior leadership and stakeholders.
About the Department
The Management Accounts team prepares operational business reports that guide managerial decision-making for both short and long-term strategies. The team focuses on two key areas: Management Accounts and Reconciliations, ensuring accurate financial information flow and control adherence.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the month-end reporting procedures and ensure timely completion.
- Take charge of submitting monthly General Ledger data and Key Performance Indicators accurately using Hyperion Essbase.
- Produce monthly financial reports for senior leadership, including variance analyses against budgets and forecasts, new business figures, margin computations, and provision updates.
- Promote and implement cost management best practices company-wide.
- Manage monthly Cost Centre reporting with variance analysis and assist budget holders with monitoring and controlling overheads, including project expenditures.
- Calculate Residual Value provisions accurately.
- Ensure compliance with external reporting obligations such as those required by the Finance and Leasing Association and National Statistics data.
Opportunities for Growth
- Recommend enhancements in departmental processes, including report development and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
- Participate in various ad hoc projects as assigned.
- Support and deputise for the Senior Manager of Management Accounting when needed.
Accountabilities
- Managing the month-end reporting cycle.
- Preparing financial data for senior managers each month.
- Overseeing management of company overheads.
- Coaching and supporting direct reports to optimize team performance.
Required Experience and Skills
- Demonstrable expertise in management accounting tasks, including month-end reporting, managing assets worth over £500 million, reporting to international parent companies, budgeting, and forecasting.
- Strong commercial insight and business awareness.
- Experience in business partnering roles.
- Proven track record in cost control.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, and familiarity with Power BI.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, confident in delivering presentations.
