Logistics & Transportation Optimization Manager

Overview

We are looking for an experienced Logistics & Transportation Optimization Manager to lead and improve outbound shipping performance within a dynamic retail supply chain. This is a critical hands-on role tasked with identifying and implementing solutions that reduce costs, enhance service levels, and boost customer satisfaction. The position is primarily remote and initially offered as a 6-month contract, ideally located in Kentucky or Cary, United States.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee and manage logistics performance in partnership with the 3PL provider, primarily UPS based in Kentucky.
• Optimize outbound transportation operations focusing predominantly on parcel shipping, which constitutes over 90% of the volume.
• Drive enhancements across both parcel and less-than-truckload (LTL) transportation networks.
• Utilize Walmart's transportation and service requirements to elevate operational efficiency.
• Analyze customer order trends, shipping characteristics, and delivery sites to identify areas for optimization.
• Lead projects aimed at improving On Time In Full (OTIF) metrics, minimizing chargebacks, and avoiding retailer fines.
• Promote a customer-first philosophy to maintain excellent service for retail customers.

Candidate Profile

• Demonstrated operational experience in logistics and transportation management.
• Proven expertise in optimizing outbound shipments and knowledge of parcel carrier networks and transportation management systems.
• Specialized experience with LTL shipping and managing relationships with 3PL providers.
• Familiarity with Walmart’s supply chain and service standards.
• Track record of enhancing OTIF performance and reducing penalties related to retailer compliance.
• Strong analytical capabilities to identify root causes and establish sustainable improvements.
• Experience in retail, consumer goods, or customer-centric supply chain sectors.
• Problem-solver and decisive leader with the ability to influence cross-functional teams.
