Position Overview
This part-time onsite laborer role is located in Grafenwöhr, Bavaria, Germany, and involves a variety of grounds upkeep and maintenance tasks, as well as indoor cleaning and equipment handling duties supporting a military community environment.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform lawns and garden care including mowing, sod laying, weeding flowerbeds, trimming edges, and pruning shrubs and trees.
- Apply fertilizers, water plants, clear drainage ditches, and shovel snow from walkways and driveways.
- Load and unload materials, transport supplies using wheelbarrows, hand trucks, or dollies, and organize storage areas.
- Excavate, fill, and compact soil and gravel; level grounds using hand tools such as picks, shovels, tampers, and rakes.
- Clean fabrics such as rugs and drapes, and utilize industrial machines to wax, polish, and maintain floors.
- Adjust, clean, lubricate, and change attachments on power tools and machinery.
- Wash and replace facility fixtures, working from ladders and scaffolds when necessary.
- Relocate heavy office furniture and equipment as needed.
Employment Conditions and Requirements
- Applicants must provide a Direct Deposit and Social Security Card.
- Meeting qualification, eligibility, and background verification standards is mandatory.
- A probationary period of one year may be imposed.
- Work schedule includes rotating shifts covering weekends, holidays, and special events.
- A valid USAREUR driver's license must be obtained and maintained throughout employment.
- The role requires frequent lifting of objects up to 50 pounds and capability to bend, stoop, stand, and work in physically demanding positions.
- Work environments include both indoor and outdoor settings; outdoor work may involve exposure to adverse weather, noise, dust, dirt, and physical risks such as bruises or cuts.
- Strict adherence to safety protocols is required, including use of gloves, ear protection, and safety glasses.
Applicant Qualifications
- Minimum of three months laboring experience is necessary.
- Ability to operate, control, clean, and maintain power and hand tools used in grounds and facility maintenance.
- Capable of following oral and written instructions involving multiple-step tasks without continuous supervision.
- Manual dexterity sufficient to lift and move moderately heavy items.
- Basic knowledge of routine maintenance for power equipment such as lawn mowers, leaf blowers, edges, trimmers, scrubbers, buffers, steam cleaners, and vacuums.
- Highly preferred candidates have at least one year of Army Lodging experience; such candidates will have priority during referral processes.

- The local area of consideration includes a 100 km radius around Grafenwöhr, covering communities like Vilseck, Hohenfels, and Ansbach.

- Permanent Change of Station (PCS) relocation costs will not be reimbursed.
- This position is governed by the Federal Wage Schedule which includes overtime pay provisions for hours exceeding 8 per day or 40 per week, and premiums for weekend or evening shifts as applicable.
