About the Role and Company
The Compliance Department at VanEck Europe GmbH plays a crucial role in activities such as compliance monitoring, regulatory advice, product governance, and policy maintenance. Based in Frankfurt, this position allows for valuable practical experience within a prominent and dynamic asset management firm. Reporting to the Head of Compliance Europe, this role is suited for candidates with a solid understanding of financial instruments, ideally with some background in financial services, though prior experience is not mandatory.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with trade surveillance by reviewing and escalating personal trading alerts, documenting justifications, and maintaining records.
- Monitor compliance with the firm’s personal account dealing policy and Code of Ethics.
- Participate in periodic testing and control activities addressing conflicts of interest, possible market abuse, insider trading, and breaches of internal rules.
- Help design, prepare, and deliver Code of Ethics and compliance training sessions.
- Support ongoing compliance training and orientation programs for new employees throughout VanEck's European entities.
- Maintain thorough records of training activities and ensure timely completion by all relevant staff.
- Contribute to updating and managing compliance policies, including market conduct and ethical codes.
- Collaborate with departments to enhance awareness and adherence to regulatory requirements and standards.
- Monitor legislative changes affecting investment funds, distribution, and innovative investment strategies, facilitating compliance implementations.
- Review new products and business initiatives for compliance considerations and regulatory impact.
- Assist in various ad hoc compliance projects as needed.
Candidate Profile and Competencies
- Between zero and two years of experience in financial services.
- Proficient in English, German language skills are a notable advantage.
- Thorough understanding of various financial instruments.
- Self-driven with a quick learning ability and a collaborative team player mindset.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving aptitude.
- Effective communication skills across verbal, written, and interpersonal contexts.
- Capable of managing multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-moving environment.
