Role Overview
This position is for a full-time Junior Advocate located on-site in Bengaluru. The role entails assisting senior advocates with preparing for cases, which includes conducting legal research, drafting pleadings, notices, contracts, and advisory documents. Daily tasks involve examining case files, preparing briefs, organizing evidence, and providing support during court and tribunal appearances under guidance. Additionally, the Junior Advocate will liaise with clients, collate information, maintain case documentation, ensure timely submission of documents, track case progress, stay informed about relevant legal updates, and contribute to in-house knowledge bases and documentation.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Proficiency in legal research and strong analytical capabilities, including competence with legal databases and comprehension of case law and statutory provisions.
- Excellent drafting and writing skills to create pleadings, contracts, notices, legal opinions, and other documents clearly and accurately.
- Supportive experience in advocacy and courtroom procedures such as assisting with argument preparation, case strategies, and briefing for hearings.
- Ability to communicate effectively with clients, gather relevant information, explain legal concepts, and sustain professional relationships.
- Strong organizational and time management attributes to juggle multiple cases, adhere to deadlines, and keep detailed case files.
- Must possess an LL.B. degree from an accredited institution with enrollment or eligibility for enrollment in a State Bar Council.
- Knowledge of civil and criminal procedures, contract law, and general commercial legislation. Prior internships or experience in litigation or corporate legal practice is a plus.
- Willingness and ability to work on-site in Bengaluru and attend courts, tribunals, and meetings as necessary.
