Overview

UK Management College is seeking a dedicated IT Support Technician to deliver professional and customer-oriented IT assistance across its campuses in Salford, England. This role emphasizes maintaining dependable IT services, supporting end users, administering cloud technologies, and contributing to both operational and strategic IT initiatives across multiple locations within the college.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver expert technical support for hardware, software, cloud services, and IT infrastructure across UK Management College campuses.
  • Manage and support Microsoft 365 cloud platforms, including account administration, licensing, Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint Online, OneDrive, Microsoft Entra ID, and associated services.
  • Oversee endpoint management, device configurations, application deployments, and ensure security compliance using tools like Microsoft Intune and Microsoft Defender.
  • Support essential systems such as Student Information Systems, enterprise applications, and cloud platforms.
  • Set up, deploy, maintain, and troubleshoot desktops, laptops, mobile devices, printers, scanners, audiovisual equipment, meeting room technologies, and peripherals.
  • Assist in maintaining networking infrastructure inclusive of wired and wireless networks, switches, VPNs, internet services, and related components.
  • Provide support for VoIP, unified communications, and collaboration tools.
  • Manage user account lifecycles including onboarding, offboarding, and identity administration.
  • Handle the IT asset lifecycle by supporting procurement, deployment, inventory, maintenance, and secure disposal.
  • Document and resolve incidents and service requests using the College's IT service management system, keeping thorough records and communication throughout.
  • Contribute to IT projects, including infrastructure, cloud, cybersecurity, and digital transformation initiatives to enhance service delivery.
  • Create and update IT documentation, technical guides, asset records, and knowledge base articles.
  • Coordinate with external vendors and service providers to support day-to-day operations and projects.
  • Ensure adherence to IT security policies, cybersecurity standards, data protection, and information governance.
  • Provide occasional support beyond normal hours as operational demands require.
  • Perform any related duties as requested by the IT Manager consistent with the role.

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Experience supporting enterprise IT operations in a multi-site environment.
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft 365 services including Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint Online, OneDrive, and Microsoft Entra ID.
  • Familiarity with endpoint management and enterprise security tools such as Microsoft Intune and Microsoft Defender.
  • Competence with end-user devices and operating systems including Windows, macOS, tablets and mobile platforms, cloud-based applications, and networks.
  • Solid understanding of networking basics like TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, VPN, and wireless technologies.
  • Experience supporting enterprise and cloud-based business systems.
  • Skilled in using IT Service Management or helpdesk tools for incident and request management.
  • Strong troubleshooting abilities, analytical thinking, and multitasking prioritization skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills supporting technical and non-technical users.
  • Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively across multiple campuses.

Desirable Skills

  • Microsoft certifications such as MS-900 or AZ-900.
  • ITIL Foundation certification or similar.
  • Basic knowledge of PowerShell or automation scripting.
  • Experience in higher education or multi-site organizations.
