Job description
Role Overview
The IT Expert will design, implement, and oversee the technological infrastructure crucial to our research activities. This encompasses digital data gathering platforms, analytic systems, and cybersecurity frameworks.
Core Responsibilities
- Architect and launch mobile data collection solutions using platforms such as ODK, KoboToolbox, SurveyCTO, and CommCare.
- Oversee cloud-based infrastructure, including databases, dashboards, file storage, and automated processes.
- Develop and sustain internal web applications, application programming interfaces, and analytics dashboards.
- Implement and monitor cybersecurity measures, enforce data protection protocols, and maintain backup systems.
- Deliver second-level and third-level IT support throughout the organization.
Candidate Qualifications
- Possess a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
- Have at least four years of professional experience encompassing cloud platforms (such as AWS, Google Cloud Platform, or Microsoft Azure) and administration of databases.
- Demonstrate strong proficiency in Python, JavaScript or TypeScript, and SQL programming languages.
- Show experience with business intelligence and visualization tools, including Power BI, Tableau, Looker, or Metabase.
- Familiarity with statistical or data analysis software like R, Stata, or SPSS is advantageous.
- Understand data protection regulations including the GDPR and the Kenya Data Protection Act.
