About Customs Bureau
Customs Bureau, a part of the wider 7C Network, specializes in creating spaces that foster human connection. The studio adopts a holistic approach, offering comprehensive services from supporting early sustainability initiatives to leveraging in-house textile, industrial, and product design expertise unique to Customs Bureau. Operating from headquarters in London and design studios in New York and Sydney, Customs Bureau aims to redefine hospitality by understanding evolving trends in travel and leisure. Shida and her team approach guest experiences with thoughtful curation, emphasizing sensory details and ensuring every element—from spatial arrangement to texture—reflects the location and its customs.
Customs Bureau is integrated within the 7C network, which combines design and architecture firms like Woods Bagot, ERA-co, and Impact Futures to deliver "Total Place Design." This approach covers placemaking, sustainability, architecture, interior design, and luxury conceptual development.
Role Overview
We are looking for a design-oriented Interior Designer proficient in 3D modeling and experienced in luxury hospitality environments. The ideal candidate will assist in concept development, translating ideas into clear, spatial models and visuals that effectively communicate design intent. This is a growth opportunity within a small yet rapidly expanding studio, requiring proactivity, curiosity, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively with senior team members. You will report to the Project Leader and collaborate closely with the Senior Designer, engaging in all stages from concept through delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Senior Designers to prepare concept design presentations.
- Assist the design team with 3D modeling, sketch renderings, image editing, and FF&E proposals.
- Develop space planning and schematic design schemes including mood boards and material selections.
- Prepare detailed design presentations and documentation packages, such as drawings and specifications.
- Create design-led 3D models that enhance storytelling, spatial exploration, and iterative concept development.
Qualifications & Skills
- Master's degree in Interior Design or Architecture.
- Minimum of two years' experience in luxury hospitality design.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD, Rhino, SketchUp, and Adobe Creative Suite (especially InDesign and Photoshop).
- Strong 3D modeling skills paired with a design-first mentality for fluid movement between conceptual stages.
- Experience with Enscape is advantageous.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
