Job Overview
The Safety Inspector role is responsible for maintaining occupational health and safety standards at construction sites, ensuring adherence to HSE protocols, project safety plans, and legal compliance. The position's main objective is to minimize accidents and uphold secure working environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Performing daily health, safety, and environment inspections across road construction zones, equipment, and work areas.
- Overseeing the enforcement of risk assessments, safe work method statements, and permit-to-work procedures.
- Ensuring workforce adherence to personal protective equipment requirements and established safety practices.
- Detecting hazards and unsafe behaviors, issuing corrective measures, and tracking their resolution.
- Confirming compliance with traffic management plans and the safe operation of vehicles and machinery.
- Leading safety briefings and toolbox talks to raise awareness among staff.
- Assisting in investigations of incidents and near-misses.
- Keeping detailed safety records, including daily logs, reports, and audit materials.
- Supporting emergency response readiness and conducting safety drills.
Qualifications and Skills
- Possession of a Diploma in Engineering or Occupational Safety.
- 3 to 7 years of experience in health, safety, and environment roles within road or infrastructure projects.
- Preferred certifications include NEBOSH, IOSH, or OSHA.
- Excellent capability in hazard recognition and safety reporting.
- Strong communication skills and leadership in safety management.
