Position Overview

The Housekeeping Aide role is a part-time, evening shift position (3pm-11pm, Monday through Friday) focused on maintaining cleanliness across hospital and off-site locations. This role requires executing thorough cleaning duties to ensure a sanitary environment for patients, staff, and visitors.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintain cleanliness of occupied patient units by dust mopping, wet mopping with germicide, cleaning furniture and walls, and handling trash appropriately.
  • Prepare discharge patient rooms by removing linens, trash, and equipment; cleaning and remaking beds; arranging furniture and supplies; and reporting maintenance needs.
  • Keep bathrooms sanitary through dust mopping, germicide cleaning of lavatories, tubs, and showers, and restocking dispensers.
  • Clean nurses stations, medication rooms, offices, library, conference rooms, waiting areas, and ancillary service areas including dusting, vacuuming, trash removal, and floor cleaning according to schedules and as needed.
  • Perform terminal cleaning in Operating Room (OR) areas, including sanitizing surfaces, managing waste and sharps containers, and complying with PPE requirements.

  • Capacity to independently determine appropriate actions in complex scenarios while maintaining a positive outlook.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities effectively and complete tasks on schedule with accuracy.
  • Confidential handling of medical, financial, and legal information.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.

Physical and Environmental Requirements

  • Operate in a physically demanding, often high-pressure environment, including 6-8 hours of standing and walking.
  • Lifting requirements up to 50 pounds occasionally, with assistance.
  • Cognitive ability for critical thinking, attention to detail, and strong analytical skills.
  • Normal or corrected hearing and vision, with good manual dexterity and coordination.
  • Physical activities including climbing, bending, twisting, pushing, pulling, and reaching at different frequencies during shifts.
