Role overview
Auckland Council is hiring two Holiday Park Assistants for the Ōrewa Beach Holiday Park team. One role is permanent part-time at 32 hours per week and the other is full-time, with both positions available for an immediate start.
This is a customer-facing front-of-house position in a busy holiday park environment. The successful person will work with a supportive team to help deliver a welcoming, smooth and memorable stay for guests.
What you will do
- Handle reception, front-desk and general administrative work.
- Act as the first point of contact for guests and help them settle into the park and local area.
- Respond to enquiries and manage bookings made online, by email, over the phone and in person.
- Create reservations in the booking system, enter data accurately, issue receipts, and process payments and sales.
- Support cleaning tasks, housekeeping, amenities upkeep, light grounds work, and basic facilities or operational support.
Work pattern and flexibility
The park operates every day from 8:00am to 8:00pm, so the role follows a seven-day roster. Weekend work, public holidays, school holiday periods and extra hours during the busy summer season are part of the job, and flexibility is essential.
You may also be asked to support other Holiday Parks sites across the wider portfolio when business needs require it.
About you
You should be comfortable in reception and administration tasks, confident with cash handling, and able to use your initiative to work through operational or maintenance issues as they arise. A calm, helpful manner and a strong customer focus are important.
Additional information and conditions
The role is paid at the living wage of $29.90 per hour, depending on your skills and proven relevant experience. Auckland Council’s employer KiwiSaver contribution is additional to the base salary offered.
This position is safety-sensitive and requires pre-employment drug and alcohol testing. It is also classified as a Children's Worker role under the Vulnerable Children Act 2014, so police vetting is required before employment begins and appointment depends on a satisfactory police check.
The closing date for applications is Thursday 23rd July at midnight, although applications are being reviewed on a rolling basis and the advert may close earlier than planned. If you need support or have access requirements, you should let the employer know when you apply.
Inclusion
Auckland Council is an equal opportunity employer and says it is committed to diversity, equity and inclusion. The organisation also notes its GenderTick accreditation and its status as a signatory to the Pride Pledge.
What the employer offers
You will be joining a collaborative and supportive workplace with flexible working conditions, a focus on wellbeing, and an emphasis on continuous improvement. The role also contributes directly to serving the Auckland community.
