Handyman - General Maintenance at Worcester Processing Plant

Role Overview

The Worcester Processing Plant is actively seeking a diligent Handyman to provide comprehensive general maintenance support across the facility, ensuring operational efficiency and safety.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure that all power tools, hand tools, and maintenance equipment are maintained in optimal working order and correctly stored.
• Report any malfunctioning tools or equipment to the Maintenance Manager and undertake repairs on maintenance tools wherever feasible.
• Determine and procure the appropriate types of tools, equipment, and materials required for various maintenance tasks.
• Perform maintenance duties aimed at reducing downtime and resolving hazards to uphold workplace safety.
• Participate in standby duties as scheduled.
• Install various appliances as needed.
• Coordinate and communicate effectively with contractors and fellow workers.
• Manage repairs related to broken or collapsing ceilings, roof leaks, paintwork on walls and structures, waterproofing, and insulation of ceilings.
• Replace damaged windows, doors, hinges, and locks efficiently.
• Conduct repairs on paving, fences, and gates.
• Carry out basic bricklaying and plastering assignments.
• Repair or replace leaking gutters and downpipes.
• Apply wall and floor tiling as required.
• Complete and submit all daily reports and maintenance job cards accurately.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Possession of an N3 qualification or an equivalent credential.
• A minimum of three years’ relevant, verifiable experience in maintenance work.
• Valid Code EB driving license.

Essential Knowledge and Skills

• Experience with civil, plumbing, and mechanical maintenance practices.
• Proficiency in the use and maintenance of various hand and power tools.
• Understanding of applicable electrical codes, standards, and regulations.
• Awareness of hazards and safety measures within maintenance operations.
• Manual dexterity and ability to perform precise tasks.
• Capability to work efficiently under pressure and prioritize tasks effectively.
• Strong time management skills paired with attention to detail.
• Driven to meet deadlines with high accuracy.
• Ability to troubleshoot, diagnose faults, and maintain warehouse equipment within the scope of responsibilities.
• Competence in working under supervision employing standardized methods and practices.
