About the Role

Silver Fern Farms is committed to producing high-quality certified halal meat for customers worldwide. We are currently looking for a trainee or backup Halal Slaughterman to join our team at the Te Aroha Plant.

Work Schedule

• Typically 37.5 hours per week during peak production seasons with additional overtime possibilities.
• Shifts include evenings from 2:50 pm to 12:00 am and days from 5:30 am to 3:00 pm.

Candidate Requirements

• Possession of an NZQA Record of Learning demonstrating achievement in Unit Standards 25926, 21623 & 25927.
• Prior experience as a Halal Slaughterman within New Zealand is strongly preferred.
• Must be a practicing Muslim eligible to live and work in New Zealand, ideally affiliated with a New Zealand Islamic Society.
• Excellent communication skills and strong teamwork abilities to work effectively within a small team environment.
• Previous experience or knowledge of food handling and health and safety practices in a production or manufacturing context is advantageous.
• Must have eligibility to work in New Zealand.
