Job Summary
The Superintendent is responsible for successfully completing construction projects by planning, organizing, and managing grading crews, supervising staff and subcontractors, conducting quality inspections, and ensuring adherence to company policies and safety standards. The role requires adaptability to shifting tasks and schedules as needed.
Primary Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate grading crews to meet project priorities and plans.
- Create and maintain schedules while tracking attendance and production of crew and subcontractors.
- Plan and schedule materials deliveries and trucking requirements.
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols and quality standards.
- Supervise the use of heavy equipment including direct operation of motor graders and others.
- Monitor project costs to ensure budgets are maintained.
- Prepare consistent progress reports for project management.
- Maintain required field documentation, permits, and licenses.
- Demonstrate flexibility with scheduling, location assignments, and shift changes.
Candidate Requirements
- Minimum 10 years of commercial or residential grading experience.
- At least 5 years of experience in a supervisory role.
- Proficiency in operating motor graders and other relevant heavy machinery.
- Physical ability to lift, push, pull, or carry loads exceeding 50 pounds.
