Position Summary
We are looking for a dedicated Student Transportation Dispatcher to join our team full-time at Voyago, a part of Transdev Ontario Manitoba. Reporting directly to the Operations Manager, this role involves managing and supporting school bus route dispatch. The dispatcher will ensure driver communication is accurate, routes are efficient, and compliance with all operational guidelines is maintained. Success in this role depends on excellent customer service, precise attention to detail, and the ability to effectively handle multiple demands in a dynamic work setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and support school bus routes to maintain punctual and efficient service.
- Assist drivers by transporting vehicles during mechanical failures or breakdown situations.
- Fill in on school routes as a last resort when no other options remain.
- Communicate regularly with drivers, monitors, and supervisors to resolve issues encountered on the road.
- Track and update vehicle locations, relaying critical information to drivers.
- Respond to incoming calls and inquiries related to school transportation operations.
- Keep comprehensive logs of daily activities, including attendance issues and delays.
- Ensure drivers adhere to route schedules and that no students are left unattended.
- Generate and manage various operational reports as requested by the Dispatch Supervisor.
- Coordinate and assist with scheduling necessary vehicle maintenance.
Candidate Profile
- Experience or education related to dispatching in transportation or service sectors.
- Competence using radio communication to interact with drivers effectively.
- Strong skills in time and stress management.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize urgent activities efficiently.
- Proactive problem-solver with good data gathering aptitude.
- Strict adherence to corporate and legal dispatch procedures.
- High-quality customer service capabilities.
- Proficient computer skills, particularly with MS Office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel).
- Intermediate to advanced proficiency in both verbal and written communication (B2 to C1 proficiency level).
- Availability to work Monday through Friday, from 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM.
Work Location and Hours
This position is fully onsite at 573 Admiral Court, London, Ontario. Remote work options are not available.
Compensation and Benefits
- Starting hourly pay is $22.00, with benefits eligibility after three months.
- Pay will increase to $23.00 per hour following successful upgrading to a B Class license, with training expenses covered by Voyago.
