This role involves supporting day-to-day financial operations by ensuring accurate processing of transactions, managing cash efficiently, maintaining compliant documentation, and enforcing organizational and donor financial policies.

The Finance Assistant plays a crucial part in sustaining robust financial controls through precise records, punctual transaction execution, thorough archival of financial documents, and assistance with month-end closing and reporting activities. Reporting to the Finance Officer, the incumbent independently handles routine financial tasks with a strong emphasis on compliance and confidentiality.

Key Responsibilities

  • Uphold strict confidentiality of all financial records and information.
  • Process invoices, payment requests, and expense claims timely and accurately in line with Relief International policies and donor requirements.
  • Prepare payment vouchers, obtain necessary approvals, and maintain records with integrity and security.
  • Assist with reviewing incentive payroll and employee financial documents.
  • Prepare monthly accrual reports and maintain finance trackers and tools as required.
  • Manage cash operations, including receiving funds, distributing salaries to national and indirect staff using card payment systems, and maintaining updated cashbooks and daily cash counts.
  • Organize and maintain a structured filing system for financial documents; scan and archive these on OneDrive with backup to prevent loss.

Eligibility and Requirements

  • Minimum of two years’ experience in finance-related roles.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Engineering, or related disciplines.
  • Proficient English language skills.
  • Strong computer skills, particularly with Microsoft Excel, Word, and internet applications.
  • Prior experience working with NGOs or INGOs is highly desirable.
  • Good problem-solving abilities and capable of working independently.
  • Additional certifications or training in finance are a plus.

Additional Information

The position requires regular visits to Relief International facilities in Al-Hasakeh. Candidates must demonstrate sound judgment, attention to detail, and a high ethical standard to handle confidential financial matters responsibly.

Application deadline: 12 August 2026.
