Job description

Job Overview

The role involves joining the Flight Services & Fuel Efficiency team within the Singapore Airlines (SIA) Operations Control Centre (TMM). The position focuses on tracking flight progress and providing crucial updates to stakeholders, managing operational safety issues, and supporting flight efficiency and resilience efforts.

Core Responsibilities

  • Track SIA flights continuously and distribute pertinent flight information to relevant parties.
  • Evaluate operational safety by monitoring airport facility conditions, labor disruptions, weather alerts, and crew flight time limits, analyzing their effects on flight operations.
  • Keep operational teams updated using ACARS communications when necessary.
  • Strive to reduce flight delays and minimise inconvenience to passengers.
  • Coordinate additional flights, charters, or relief services as required.
  • Manage delays or special diversions to airports or enroute stations when business, economic, or technical factors necessitate changes.
  • Follow designated procedures during incidents involving SIA aircraft, including emergencies like hijackings, bomb threats, and medical emergencies on SIA or Star Alliance partner flights in Singapore.
  • Investigate causes of flight delays and enhance response tactics to prevent recurrence.
  • Continuously monitor flight progress and adjust flight plans, especially concerning critical fuel scenarios for Extended Diversion Time Operations (EDTO).
  • Communicate plan changes with Technical Crew and Flight Dispatchers, addressing in-flight rerouting due to weather, airspace conditions, or operational updates, optimizing routes further.
  • Provide flight planning assistance during irregular operations (IRROPS).
  • Keep track of significant weather events (e.g., typhoons, volcanic ash, severe terminal area weather) and manage necessary route adjustments to maintain operational integrity.
  • Oversee special air route or airspace interruptions as they arise.
  • Coordinate arrival and departure sequencing, European Delay Management, Tactical Cost Index Adjustment, and related tactical measures.
  • Maintain currency as a Flight Dispatcher.
  • Support ongoing fuel-related operational initiatives.
  • Ensure communication of SIN Air Traffic Flow Management measures to flight crew.
  • Perform additional duties as directed by the department.

Requirements and Conditions

  • A Bachelor's Degree is required; preference is given to those with backgrounds in Flight Operations or holding a pilot's Airline Transport Pilot License (ATPL).
  • The position requires flexibility to work shifts due to its operational nature.

New hires will participate in a comprehensive training program lasting approximately 12 months; candidates with relevant experience may have adjusted training durations. Completion of training and competency assessments is mandatory before appointment as Flight Controller.
