Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct preventive, predictive, corrective, and emergency maintenance on assigned electrical assets.

  • Support maintenance and repair of a broad range of electrical equipment including medium and low voltage switchgear, circuit breakers, motors, relays, control panels, generators and auxiliaries, transformers, UPS and battery systems, cable and earthing infrastructure, and electrical systems tied to turbines, water treatment, and balance-of-plant.
  • Utilize approved electrical testing tools (multimeters, clamp meters, insulation testers, earth resistance and phase rotation meters) for routine and specialized tests (relay testing, breaker timing, thermography, partial discharge, etc.).
  • Accurately document testing results and report abnormal findings to electrical engineers.
  • Assist with the installation, commissioning, modification, and upgrading of electrical systems following technical and safety specifications.
  • Adhere strictly to electrical safety regulations, permit-to-work procedures, lockout/tagout protocols, grounding, and arc flash prevention.
  • Engage proactively in safety briefings, risk assessments, and incident reporting to maintain a hazard-free environment.
  • Complete all necessary documentation including checklists, inspection sheets, test and work reports, and defect logging.
  • Manage spare parts inventory checks, tool maintenance, and coordinate with stores for incoming materials.
  • Collaborate effectively with maintenance engineers, operations, mechanical and instrumentation teams, contractors, and original equipment manufacturers.
  • Assist in mentoring junior technicians and support continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing equipment dependability.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Diploma in Electrical Engineering or equivalent qualification; trade certification preferred.
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in electrical maintenance within power plants, ideally combined cycle plants.
  • In-depth knowledge of electrical systems typical to combined cycle power plants including MV/LV switchgear, transformers, motors, motor control centers, UPS, battery chargers, DC systems, and generator auxiliaries.
  • Proficiency in reading electrical schematics, single-line and wiring diagrams, cable layouts, and maintenance manuals.
  • Strong understanding of electrical safety practices, protection devices, permit-to-work, lockout/tagout, and hazardous energy control.
