About Help at Home Direct Support Professional Role
Help at Home is actively hiring compassionate and reliable Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to assist individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities within their homes and surrounding communities. Primary Responsibilities
- Delivering personalized support focused on daily living activities such as meal preparation, housekeeping, personal hygiene and grooming, as well as transportation assistance
- Facilitating participation in community and social activities including shopping and events
- Assisting clients in achieving personal development goals and recognizing their progress
- Fostering client choice, independence, and self-advocacy capabilities
- Maintaining accurate records of care, activities, and client progress in documentation
- Collaborating with fellow team members to ensure consistent, high-quality support services
Eligibility and Qualifications
- Minimum age of 18 years
- Possess a high school diploma or equivalent qualification
- Successful completion of background checks and required training programs
- Valid driver’s license plus reliable transportation with proof of insurance (primary or secondary drivers acceptable)
- Capability to work safely and respectfully within home and community settings
- Demonstrated compassion, dependability, and commitment to positively impacting clients
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Previous experience providing support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities or autism, including implementing Individual Activity Support Plans and Plans of Service and Supports
- Knowledge and use of foundational behavioral support techniques such as redirection, visual prompts, and adaptations to the environment
