About The Opportunity

Auckland Airport is a vital national infrastructure hub connecting New Zealand globally and driving economic growth. As a Development Manager embedded within the project team, you will serve as the champion of enterprise outcomes for terminal areas, ensuring balance and integration of commercial, operational, customer, and regulatory requirements throughout project lifecycles.

You will hold accountability for tenancy and occupancy planning, stakeholder collaboration, commercial agreements, and benefit realization to ensure spaces deliver their intended value across lifespan.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ownership of specific spaces and their associated business outcomes
  • Integration into projects and provision of development management
  • Planning and coordination of occupancy across terminal spaces
  • Preparation and management of development agreements and commercial documentation
  • Space planning and enterprise coordination efforts
  • Financial oversight and commercial management activities

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will have a bachelor's degree in property, commerce, engineering, project management, planning, law, or a related field, complemented by qualifications in contract or commercial management. Significant experience in infrastructure, property or asset development, major projects, airport operations, or commercial management is essential, along with proven ability to develop and maintain business cases throughout project lifecycles.

  • Proven client-side representation experience in large-scale infrastructure programs
  • Skill in balancing commercial, operational, and customer needs within complex stakeholder environments
  • Deep knowledge of project development, governance, and stage-gate methodologies
  • Experience managing commercial developments, tenant relocations, or operational transitions
  • Familiarity with development agreements, leasing, licensing, and property asset management processes

The role demands a strong enterprise mentality, collaborative and relationship-driven approach, comfort in navigating ambiguity and complexity, sound judgment, decision-making skills, integrity, and professionalism demonstrated through prior roles.
