Role Overview

At Crate and Barrel, Designers play a key role in inspiring customers with current home design trends, aiding them in visualizing the perfect spaces—ranging from complete home furnishing to individual accent pieces. Experienced in diverse design styles, from timeless classics to modern aesthetics, Designers use digital technologies during consultations both in-store and at the client's home to realize customer visions.

Key Duties

• Drive sales and create a unique and engaging customer experience through elevated design presentations both face-to-face and virtually.
• Develop sophisticated design concepts using preferred tools to produce moodboards, 2D/3D floor plans, product lists, and presentations customized to customer needs.
• Lead design consultations across various settings, including in-store, in-home, remote via phone, email, and video calls.
• Complete design projects on schedule within established deadlines.
• Maintain clear knowledge of brand aesthetics and merchandising strategies across multiple channels such as Store, E-Commerce, and Catalog.
• Stay informed about detailed product information, care guidelines, and monitor competitor and industry trends.
• Achieve personal sales targets, key performance indicators, and service quality objectives while actively engaging with customers on the sales floor.
• Listen attentively to customers to recommend appropriate product solutions and communicate associated loyalty programs (e.g., designer rewards, credit card benefits).
• Exemplify excellent customer service with a positive demeanor, ensuring prompt and courteous interactions.
• Contribute to store training initiatives to increase awareness and understanding of design services and offerings.
• Build and nurture lasting client relationships through networking and personalized clienteling.

Required Skills and Experience

• Fundamental knowledge of design principles including spatial arrangement, fabric and lighting selection, and interior décor styles.
• Strong communication abilities to effectively convey the brand's vision and fulfill customer needs.
• High level of comfort with technology such as 2D and 3D design software, Google Suite, video conferencing tools, iPad usage, and proficiency in floor planning.
• Up-to-date awareness of current design trends.
• Adaptability to change and flexibility in a dynamic business environment.
• Minimum of one year in relevant roles like furniture sales, home décor design, retail, or customer service, with experience in personalized client engagements and solution recommendations.
