Overview
The Deputy Store Manager role supports the General Manager in overseeing store operations, driving sales in alignment with company objectives, and maintaining company standards. This position is essential for coordinating store activities, managing staff, and ensuring effective communication across departments to achieve operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive sales performance and operational activities supporting the General Manager to meet and surpass store KPIs.
- Act as liaison between Product Managers, Operations Manager, and Customer Experience Manager to coordinate strategies and store operations.
- Collaborate with Product Managers to optimize sales and implement product strategies effectively.
- Oversee store organization by monitoring and reviewing productivity in all areas such as sales floor, fitting rooms, cash desk, stockroom, and overnight operations; propose improvements when necessary.
- Ensure compliance with front and back of house operational procedures continuously.
- Maintain product flow processes such as replenishment, fitting room management, refunds, adhering to company standards.
- Facilitate smooth communication across all store departments.
- Oversee training and proper use of store devices and technology including ITX, iPod sales devices, item locators, ensuring device maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Support all commercial floor initiatives operationally to ensure seamless execution of sales processes.
- Maintain operational standards at cash desks including purchases, refunds, exchanges, RFID transfers, handling faulty and on-hold items.
- Ensure store cleanliness and maintenance meet high standards and report any facility issues promptly.
- Manage stock levels proficiently, handling inbound and outbound stock movements aligned with company policies.
- Monitor replenishment KPIs and formulate action plans to address performance gaps.
- Work with Operations Manager to optimize stockroom layout for seasonality and departmental needs.
- Ensure deliveries meet company productivity targets.
- Support store security procedures to reduce stock loss and initiate corrective measures.
- Maintain frequent communication with Loss Prevention (L&P) department on security matters.
- Maintain and inventory all store electronics including phones, iPads, iPods, and bluebirds, applying troubleshooting techniques as required.
- Oversee online order organization, manage daily deadlines, and optimize online package handling to enhance store productivity.
- Participate actively in new projects, providing training to team members to maximize operational success.
People and Wellbeing Management
- Manage staff scheduling effectively, balancing productivity goals and company budget constraints while respecting work-life balance policies.
- Help meet sales and unit productivity budgets by monitoring team performance and taking corrective actions as needed.
- Control payroll processes and ensure timely compliance with deadlines.
- Collaborate with the HR Manager to ensure adherence to employee relations policies including formal and informal meetings, managing absences and sicknesses.
- Respond appropriately to recruitment needs and ensure fair selection processes.
- Promote company HR policies, code of conduct, and foster positive store culture through effective communication and leadership.
- Identify team members with potential for growth and create development and succession plans with performance reviews and personal development plans using the Leap application.
- Act as an ambassador for the company's sustainability initiatives, driving innovative and cost-effective environmental projects such as Second Life Box and Change Maker activities.
Customer Experience
- Guarantee superior customer satisfaction by managing replenishment, customer checks, click and collect services, and quality control of online packages.
- Lead by example to uphold the highest standards of customer service storewide.
- Collaborate with the Customer Experience Manager to continuously enhance shopper experience within the store.
Security and Safety
- Ensure strict adherence to store security and fund management procedures by all employees, with required documentation completed accordingly.
- Support security team organization and enforce relevant security protocols.
- Manage opening and closing of cash desks and assist cash desk staff as needed.
- Monitor and report cash discrepancies to management.
- Supervise banking procedures and follow up on any incidents reported by the Loss Prevention department.
- Manage change requests and maintain appropriate follow-up.
- Implement and support all store security measures to minimize stock loss, assisting with related action plans.
Health and Safety
- Maintain excellent housekeeping standards throughout the store and communicate proactively to prevent accidents.
- Recognize risks to employees and customers, understand safe work practices and follow company safety procedures to mitigate hazards.
- Comply fully with the Company's Health & Safety Policy.
Experience and Qualifications
- Familiarity with the company brand and store operations applying for.
- Previous experience managing a retail operation in a fast-paced environment.
- Proven track record in team management, profitability maximization, and sales driving.
- Basic understanding of UK employment legislation.
- Systematic and organized work approach.
