Delivery Expert

About the role

This position is for a delivery driver who helps move orders quickly and safely from the store to customers in the assigned delivery zone. Core duties

• Deliver food to customers within the designated area using a personal insured vehicle.
• Operate store equipment and assist with routine store tasks as needed.
• Move ingredients and supplies from the delivery area to storage, the work area, and the walk-in cooler.
• Prepare products and help process telephone orders.
• Count stock, complete inventory paperwork, and handle daily cleaning of equipment and the facility.
• Bring orders to customers’ doors while navigating houses, apartments, multi-story buildings, and other delivery locations.
• Distribute flyers and door hangers when required.

Skills and work style

• Clear spoken communication for dealing with customers and coworkers.
• Ability to follow written instructions accurately.

• Basic arithmetic and quick, accurate cash handling.

Work environment

• Work may involve exposure to changing weather during deliveries and outdoor tasks.
• Temperatures can range from about 36 degrees in cooler areas to 90 degrees or higher in some parts of the store.
• You may encounter sudden temperature changes, food odors, cornmeal dust, cramped spaces, hot surfaces, sharp edges, and moving machinery.
• Driving may also involve night conditions and adverse weather.

Physical demands

• Most work is done while standing, with some walking between the store, the vehicle, and customer locations.
• Paperwork is usually completed seated at a desk or table.
• Occasional lifting of product cases up to 50 pounds is required.
• Items may need to be carried, pushed, pulled, bent for, crouched for, reached for, or climbed with during store and delivery tasks.
• Delivery may require climbing stairs, including several flights at a time.
• Driving, talking on the phone, near and far vision, depth perception, and night vision are all important parts of the role.

Job requirements

• You must be at least 18 years old.
• A valid driver’s license and a safe driving record that meets company standards are required.
• You must have access to an insured vehicle that can be used for deliveries.
• You should be able to read maps, locate addresses, and travel through varied terrain while carrying orders.

Additional information

This position involves travel between the store and delivery vehicle, as well as from the vehicle to the customer’s location. Some tasks may require moving product by hand truck and handling deliveries made multiple times per shift. The role also calls for the use of pens, computers, telephones, calculators, TDD equipment, pizza cutters, and pizza peels.
