Role Overview and Responsibilities
The Data Labeling Specialist plays a pivotal role in supporting Zipline’s autonomous delivery systems by meticulously converting raw sensor data into trusted datasets essential for machine learning model training and validation. The specialist consistently applies annotation guidelines, spots data irregularities and edge cases, and provides actionable feedback to the Autonomy teams, ensuring high-quality perception development.
- Annotate and review data from various sensor sources using both proprietary and third-party tools to generate detailed metadata for machine learning tasks.
- Master different sensor data pipelines and strictly follow labeling standards to produce comprehensive, precise datasets.
- Detect anomalies, ambiguous cases, and repetitive challenges within data, recommending enhancements to labeling processes.
- Report issues related to data quality, tooling inefficiencies, or system faults that may impact annotation accuracy or workflow throughput.
- Consistently deliver accurately labeled datasets on schedule to meet critical algorithm development deadlines.
- Offer structured input to improve the usability, effectiveness, and quality of labeling tools and procedures.
- Assist the Autonomy teams with additional projects as required.
Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline or completion of all final academic requirements with graduation pending.
- Experience in data reviewing and annotation with a strong commitment to applying detailed guidelines accurately.
- Proven ability to handle complex tasks or projects while maintaining meticulous and organized records.
- Exceptional attention to detail with endurance for consistent, methodical work over long durations.
- Proficient English communication skills, both spoken and written.

- The role operates on a 24/7 rotating shift schedule, which may include early mornings, nights, weekends, and public holidays.
