Role overview
This position is for an in-person interview. The role focuses on courteous and efficient pickup and delivery of parcels along an assigned route, along with checking each shipment to ensure it meets Federal Express Canada service standards. The job also includes customer service-related tasks.
Key responsibilities
The courier is expected to handle route deliveries and pickups, verify shipment compliance, and support customers as needed. The role may also involve other duties assigned from time to time.
Required qualifications and abilities
- High school diploma or an equivalent educational background.
- A valid driver’s license with a solid driving record.
- Capability to lift up to 70 lbs and move packages up to 150 lbs using suitable equipment.
- At least one year of customer-focused business experience is preferred.
- Successful completion of the mandatory pre-placement driver assessment training threshold.
- Working knowledge of Federal Express Canada operations and Canadian customs rules is considered an advantage.
- Strong people skills and clear communication.
- Good planning, organization, and time management abilities.
- Excellent customer service orientation.
- Ability to juggle multiple tasks, manage pressure, and perform well in a high-demand environment.
- Flexibility to work changing shifts, holidays, and varying schedules based on business needs.
- Comfort working in a Windows-based PC environment.
- Ability to complete recurring training and keep annual accreditations current where required.
- If the incumbent lives in Quebec, bilingual ability in French and English is required.
- For driving-focused roles, candidates must have a valid driver’s license such as Class 5, G, or 1[AZ], and a driving record with no more than two violations and/or accidents in the 24 months before application.
- Selection also considers the current driver abstract, interview performance, and any driver competency assessments.
