About the Role
Uber's Litigation Team oversees a wide variety of complex litigation issues involving areas such as antitrust, marketing, intellectual property, privacy, securities, accessibility, contracts, unfair competition, and more. We seek a highly skilled and business-savvy attorney to oversee diverse U.S. corporate litigation matters and deliver legal guidance across all delivery business segments, including UberEats. This role reports to a Legal Director and can be based in Washington, DC among other locations. This opportunity offers the chance to work in a leading legal department handling innovative challenges in a dynamic environment.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage litigation strategies across a diverse portfolio nationwide, spanning numerous practice areas and procedural phases—from initial pre-litigation to trials, arbitrations, and appeals for all delivery business lines.
- Engage directly in litigation processes including fact investigation, drafting and editing legal briefs, responding to discovery, preparing witnesses, and negotiating settlements.
- Optimize legal work performed internally and oversee external counsel relationships, managing staffing, strategies, budgets, invoice reviews, compliance, and quality of work.
- Provide clear, practical legal counsel aligned with business objectives, advising on contracts, advertising, trade secret protection, and product-related legal matters.
- Identify and assess litigation risks to proactively mitigate exposures.
Qualifications
- At least five years of comprehensive litigation experience gained in law firms and/or in-house legal departments.
- Juris Doctor degree and active legal license in at least one U.S. state.
- Preferred: Strong team orientation, excellent legal research and writing abilities, negotiation and advocacy expertise, and good evaluation skills for managing extensive case workloads.
- Experience with case management through pleading motions, complex electronic discovery, dispute resolution, and trials is advantageous.
- Effective interpersonal communication skills to collaborate with senior business leaders.
- Demonstrated high ethical standards and professionalism.
- Familiarity with eDiscovery processes including document retention, collection, review, and production procedures.
- Genuine enthusiasm about working at Uber.
Compensation and Benefits
For Washington, DC-based candidates, the salary range is $208,000 to $231,000 annually. Eligible employees can participate in Uber's bonus program, equity awards, and 401(k) plan. Additional benefits are available to full-time employees.
Additional Information
