Construction Engineer Mechanical

Job Duties

• Create and maintain a comprehensive equipment database including key details such as dimensions, vessel type, weight, estimated time of arrival, and location to assess the necessities for various crane capacities, rigging tools, and other plant and machinery required for unloading and installation.
• Conduct an in-depth review of equipment drawings to verify that base plate specifications align with civil foundation and structural blueprints; initiate corrective processes and raise Site Engineering Requests (SER) in case of discrepancies.
• Prepare and evaluate sketches for vendor-supplied templates, especially for circular vessels, pumps, compressors, and turbine base plates, including packer plates, and calculate necessary materials.
• Verify the size, pitch, bolt circle diameter, bolt height, and grout clearance of foundation bolts before civil foundations are cast with templates.
• Assess the scope of work related to template preparation, packer plate cutting, erection enabling activities, and equipment installation based on weight and size to generate purchase requisitions.
• Physically inspect equipment upon site delivery to identify any transit damage or shortages.
• Supervise contractors in safeguarding accessories and spares until commissioning, ensuring proper handover to Maintenance or Operations stores as applicable.
• Analyse approved rigging schemes for heavy or super heavy lifts, coordinate with contractors to complete preparatory and enabling works, and liaise with other agencies for ground and access area readiness for cranes and equipment.

Educational Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
• Diploma in Mechanical Engineering

Work Experience

• Bachelor’s degree holders: 6 to 8 years of relevant experience
• Diploma holders: 14 to 16 years of relevant experience

Skills and Knowledge

• Familiarity with equipment manufacturing codes and standards
• Comprehensive understanding of lifting equipment and cranes
• Ability to prepare rigging schemes for small equipment
• Knowledge of equipment levelling and verticality tolerance limits
