About the Role
This position is based at Ras Laffan Industrial City (RLIC), Qatar, where you will oversee all construction activities related to the Process EPC scope within a significant capital project. Your responsibilities span from involvement in detailed engineering to construction execution and the handover to the Completion Team, strictly following the approved completion sequence.
Key Challenges and Environment
Working in a highly complex megaproject setting, you will ensure impeccable construction management and handover. Challenges include supervising EPC package construction on-site, integrating construction with precommissioning and commissioning phases, managing stakeholder coordination among contractors, subcontractors, and vendors, and delivering excellence in safety, environment, security, quality, schedule, and cost compliance. You must effectively collaborate within a dynamic, multicultural, multi-location project team.
Responsibilities
- Manage construction execution through review and approval of EPC contractors' plans, procedures, specifications, and progress reports.
- Provide expert technical leadership by offering practical solutions and guidance that avoid micromanagement and unnecessary workload.
- Quickly identify and resolve issues using systematic problem-solving methods to ensure precise, timely, well-documented, and sustainable resolutions.
- Facilitate seamless integration of construction and commissioning activities to ensure safe and efficient progress.
- Coordinate project teams and stakeholders actively to meet overall project targets.
- Participate in all major project meetings and workshops, including weekly and monthly gatherings, 3D model reviews, constructability and traffic evaluations, and completion reviews.
- Lead and supervise large EPC construction workforces ranging from approximately 5,000 to 10,000 personnel.
- Cultivate a culture prioritizing world-class safety, health, environmental, and security standards.
- Drive continuous improvement by capturing and sharing lessons learned and contributing to enhanced practices for future projects.
Qualifications and Experience
- A Bachelor's Degree in Science or Engineering is mandatory.
- At least 12 years of extensive experience in construction-related roles on large-scale Oil & Gas projects, including construction, installation, fabrication, execution, completion, and hookup activities.
- Minimum of 3 years in management positions within construction disciplines, engineering, or project management, with demonstrated capability to assume full responsibility for EPC execution.
- Experience with Oil & Gas operators, EPC contractors, service firms, and heavy construction organizations.
- Comprehensive knowledge of design standards, codes, and safety requirements for fabrication, transportation, installation, brownfield execution, and hookup tasks.
- Strong familiarity with execution risks and methodologies pertinent to LNG and sour gas facilities.
- Experience engaging with large operating organizations across operations and projects, with a proven history of successful project delivery.
- Expertise managing EPC contractors, subcontractors, and vendors whilst upholding excellent construction safety records.
- Competency in Advanced Work Packaging (AWP), Systems Completion Management, and related completion databases.
- Ability to implement innovative construction approaches informed by lessons from major LNG projects.
- Proven effectiveness in influencing technical decisions to ensure flawless construction progress and seamless commissioning transitions.
- Essential prior experience on LNG projects and working in diverse, multicultural project teams.
Location
This role is stationed at Ras Laffan Industrial City (RLIC), Qatar, and requires onsite presence for the contract duration.
