We seek a seasoned Commercial Director to manage all commercial, contractual, financial, procurement, risk, and claims activities related to construction supervision and consultancy services on major infrastructure projects in the Riyadh Region. This pivotal role guarantees effective handling of consultancy agreements, construction contracts, variations, claims, and commercial compliance, while protecting the client's interests and ensuring projects stay within budget and contractual guidelines.

  • Provide strategic commercial guidance to project leaders on performance, risks, contract obligations, and financial outcomes, establishing strong controls, reporting mechanisms, and governance systems.
  • Lead contract management and administration for construction contracts, consultancy, and service agreements, ensuring adherence to contract conditions and project needs, including compliance with FIDIC and other relevant standards.
  • Oversee project cost monitoring, valuation, budget tracking, financial reporting, forecasting, and management of changes to maintain projects within allocated budgets.
  • Review payment applications, assess financial implications of contract changes, verify cost evaluations by the supervision team, and deliver accurate commercial reports to clients and stakeholders.
  • Manage evaluation, negotiation, and resolution of contractor claims, variations, time extension requests, and disputes, maintaining thorough documentation and supporting dispute avoidance.
  • Support procurement and tendering by assisting in tender development, bid assessment, commercial evaluations, contract negotiations, and award recommendations, ensuring compliance with client and project policies.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate commercial and contractual risks with regular reporting to leadership and clients to enable proactive project management.
  • Serve as the chief commercial consultant for clients, project teams, contractors, and stakeholders, fostering strong relationships and transparent collaboration throughout project delivery.
  • Lead and develop a team of commercial managers, quantity surveyors, contract administrators, and cost engineers, promoting high performance, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure all commercial activities comply with contracts, company policies, industry standards, regulations, and ethical guidelines, supporting audits and maintaining comprehensive records.

Candidate Profile

  • Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Law, Finance, or related fields.
  • Professional accreditation such as MRICS, MCIOB, or an equivalent qualification.
  • At least 20 years experience in commercial, contract, or quantity surveying roles within infrastructure and construction projects.
  • Extensive knowledge of FIDIC or similar contract frameworks, including handling claims, variations, and resolving disputes.
  • Demonstrated success in cost control, contract management, and commercial leadership on extensive multi-package projects.
  • Strong negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving capabilities, capable of formulating and defending sound commercial positions.
  • Proven leadership aptitude managing diverse, multi-cultural commercial and quantity surveying teams.
